Reach Africa’s highest free standing mountain on this summer trek which takes you through a vast variety of landscapes from jungles to barren expanses and glaciers to near vertical scrambles, to reach ‘The Roof of Africa’.

The fifteen day trip starts with five days visiting the charity’s projects in Tanzania. Moving Mountains is an international aid charity which works at grass roots level to identify community development needs, to empower local communities and to implement efficiently education and social welfare programmes, to support impoverished communities families.

The journey to the summit of Kilimanjaro will follow the Machame route, passing the Shira Plateau, Lava Tower and over the Barranco Wall, before reaching pre-summit camp. After a few hours sleep you will commence the summit climb during the night, reaching the edge of the crater at Stella Point, and finally the Uhuru Peak, arriving in time to witness breath-taking views of sunrise over East Africa’s planes.

Some of your guides and porters on your climb will be beneficiaries of Moving Mountains and all of them will have direct contact and involvement in the charity, so you will leave with an in depth knowledge of where the money you have raised goes and who it helps, as well as an overwhelming sense of achievement! This is as fun and rewarding as charity challenges get! Visit the charity’s website to find out more about them: http://www.movingmountainstrust.com/kenya.

Come to our introductory meeting to meet our Team Leaders and your fellow climbers. The time and place is TBC but you’ll find it on our Facebook or Twitter nearer the time.

“Reached the top of Kilimanjaro last week, proudest moment of my life so far.” Lauren Holmes, 2012 Participant

“What an incredible journey: by day trekking through seven different landscapes; by night gazing into the spectacular star-studded African skies. The final ascent was one of the most gruelling walks I’ve had to do yet but it was so worth it for the cause we had spent a year supporting. I still haven’t forgotten all of the Swahili and songs about Kilimanjaro we learnt on the mountain. I’d recommend it to anyone…” David Bairstow, 2011 Participant
